Ladies & Gentlemen,

It seems that opening night was only a couple of nights ago, but we have officially reached the halfway point of the run!!! The Canadian Premiere of THE GIRL IN THE FRAME has opened to *rave* reviews:

“A fantasy story like this really needs to be outrageous or dangerous to make it pop. This production is a lot of fun and is well sung with a sexy and likable cast.” -David C. Jones, Charlebois Post

“Yusuf and Almeida combine in what is likely the musical highlight with “What can you do” where they poke fun at Alex and Laney’s lack of romantic gumption.” -John Jane, Review Vancouver

“Where this foursome excelled though is in selling their characters. Herbison makes his Alex so darn likeable and goofy you (almost) forgive his childlike behaviour and Robyn, who also had the strongest voice of the night, is perfectly matched as the feisty Laney. Yusuf and Almeida have a delightful spring in their step each time they appear that even if they weren’t so gorgeous you would still have a hard time keeping your eyes off them.” -Mark Robbins, GayVancouver.net

And some awesome audience reviews from facebook:

Chris Doughty – Just saw The Girl In The Frame at Studio 1398 on Granville Island. It’s a quirky, charming comedy with a fantastic cast! I highly recommend it!

Deborah Leroux – What a wonderful play!! Love the actors and of course, a delight to see our Wendy Bross Stuart at the ivories! Well worth it! Sophie-Anne Leroux and I completely enjoyed our evening.

Lindsay Ann Warnock – CONGRATS TO THE CAST AND CREW OF THE GIRL IN THE FRAME!!! Amazing show!!! Go see it errybody!

Not to mention some emailed opinions:

“An excellent performance. The venue was small and intimate and I felt I was part of it all. Bravo to the cast!!!”

“I really enjoyed the show. THE GIRL IN THE FRAME was hilarious and very relatable. The set was adequate and all the voices were very well heard. A great show to go to on a date.”

“We had no expectations – cast, company and play were unknown to us – and were extremely pleasantly surprised. The actors were very well suited to the parts and were excellent singers.”

“This was one of the best shows I’ve seen this year (20 so far). The cast was AMAZING, the script & score is just as fantastic! I will recommend this to everyone I know!!! THANK YOU and Break A Leg!”

We even have some presence on Craigslist!

Someone's using the show to get a date...AWESOME!!!

Someone’s using the show to get a date…AWESOME!!!

So what are you waiting for? Get your tickets now while you still can! There’s also a special performance tomorrow where we’re holding a silent auction to raise funds for the Cheryl Hutcherson Memorial Scholarship Fund, presented by Applause Musicals!!!

(Wednesday & Thursday next week is already sold out, so you’d all better hurry!!!)

Hope to see you at the theatre soon!

Intimate Theatre Productions – SEASON ONE has come to a close!!!

27 Monday Feb 2012

Ladies and gentlemen, here is my closing night thank you speech, word for word as I had written it whilst on stage. (Including the parts that I accidentally skipped over in my hurried state!) – I decided to repost it on the site instead of writing a new one because the sentiments I wanted to express are exactly the same and there was no sense in a paraphrased version online.

Thank you very much for coming to see I Love You Because, and in doing so, deciding to become a part of Intimate Theatre Productions’ inaugural season. There are a few people I need to thank, for without them, this entire project would have not been even remotely possible.

First and foremost, I must thank my parents Alex and Angela. Without their love and support for the arts when I was younger, I would not have had the desire to pursue this dream I’ve had to perform.

Also, I thank all the people who’ve mentored me through this process which includes all the directors, choreographers and musical directors I’ve worked with over the last year and a half. But a special thank you to Shel Piercy, Shelley Stewart Hunt and Julie Tomaino who have coached me through the last 8 weeks of the project that culminated in what you saw the past three weeks.

And then there’s everyone who worked on the show itself: Kerry O’Donovan, our musical director and one man band on the keyboard. Francesca Albertazzi who designed the set. Don Parmon, Alex House and Omanie Elia who built and painted the set. Adam Volk for his lighting design. Christina Dao for her props. Cecilia Smith for her help with the accents. The Granville Island Cultural Society and their staff, but especially to Ryan our venue tech, and Sarah May, our main Front of House representative. All of our box office/bar/usher/load in & out volunteers. And the stage management team who keeps the show running like a well oiled machine: Malcolm Ross, Roger Smith in the booth and Emma Hale. This fabulous cast of ours that took words and notes from sheets of paper and brought forth the magic that you all were able to witness on stage. And of course, my right hand throughout this entire process, my associate producer Chris Adam, who with his Musical Theatre expertise was instrumental in me not losing my head!

And last, but not least: You, the audience. It is the support from each and every single of you that allows not only Intimate Theatre Productions, but all the small & new theatre companies out there to keep performing theatrical gems like I Love You Because in beautiful tiny spaces like Studio 1398 here on Granville Island.

Once again, Thank you all very much. Please keep up with us at http://www.IntimateTheatreProductions.com, please email us at IntimateTheatreProductions@gmail.com with all your comments & suggestions and please keep supporting live theatre.

Go and see a musical. Good Night!!!

That being said, keep tabs here at IntimateTheatreProductions.com for updates regarding an upcoming fundraiser, details on our show next season (which is going to be at Studio 1398 once again – February 6th-23rd, 2013) and other shows that our ITP Alumni are up to next!

See you all around soon!!!

Aaron
